Cranberry-Orange Bread


2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Juice & grated rind of 1 orange
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp. shortening, melted
1 c. fresh cranberries
1/2 c. walnut meats, chopped


Sift dry ingredients together into large bowl. Put juice and grated orange rind in measuring cup and add to dry mixture. Add egg and melted shortening and mix just enough to moisten flour mixture. Fold in cranberries and nuts. Bake in greased pan at 325 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes.
