Garlic Bread Spread

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 lb. grated English or American cheese
1/2 c. minced parsley
4 cloves garlic, minced
Juice of 1 lemon
Sprinkle of salt and pepper
1 1/2 sticks butter
1/4 to 1/2 c. Wesson oil

DIRECTIONS:

Mix first 5 ingredients into the butter and oil. Spread on French bread. Put in broiler on foil to toast.

Italian Style Garlic Bread Spread

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. mayonnaise or salad dressing
2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
1 tsp. garlic, minced

DIRECTIONS:

Beat together all ingredients with mixer. Spread on French or Bar-B-Que Bread. Broil until golden on an ungreased baking sheet. May be stored in covered container up to 1 month. Makes about 3/4 cup.

Garlic Butter For French Bread

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 c. soft butter
1 (or more - to taste) crushed garlic clove
3 tbsp. Parmesan cheese
1 tsp. dried majoram
1/4 tsp. pepper and a dash of cayenne

DIRECTIONS:

Mix well. Spread on French bread; cut part way into 1 inch slices. Sprinkle bread with a little water and heat, uncovered, in a 350 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes. (A jar of this in the refrigerator and French bread in the freezer make a handy emergency “addition” when a little more is needed. Sealed in a jar it keeps indefinitely.)
