INGREDIENTS:
2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 egg
About 2 c. buttermilk
Hot bacon drippings
DIRECTIONS:
Mix meal, egg, enough buttermilk to make good loose batter. Heat about 1/3 cup bacon drippings in corn bread pan (I use black skillet). When hot, pour into corn bread mixture and stir well. Pour into pan and bake 400 degrees until lightly brown.
