Cranberry Orange Bread

INGREDIENTS:

1 c. sugar
Grated peel from 1 orange
1 c. whole cranberry sauce
3 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. soda
3 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 c. wheat germ
Juice from 1 large orange
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. nuts, chopped

DIRECTIONS:

Cream shortening, sugar, egg, orange peel and cranberry sauce together. Blend dry ingredients and alternately add with orange juice. Fold in nuts; bake in two 4 x 8 greased loaf pans at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until bread tests done. Makes two 4 x 8 loaves.
