Cranberry Nut Bread

INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS:

Perfect for a holiday coffee party or a family snack. This tasty bread is pretty to look at too. It freezes well. 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 c. butter or shortening 1 tsp. grated orange peel 3/4 c. orange juice 1 egg, beaten 1 c. raw cranberries, left whole 1/2 c. walnuts, coarsely chopped
Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Beat together peel, juice and egg. Add to dry ingredients, mixing just to moisten. Fold in berries and nuts. Turn into 2 small greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool. Wrap and store overnight before slicing.
