Cranberry Almond Bread

INGREDIENTS:

2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. milk
1/2 c. butter, melted
2 tsp. almond extract or vanilla
1 1/2 c. fresh or frozen cranberries
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 c. sliced almonds (or other nuts), chopped

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch loaf pan (or 2 small loaf pans). Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cranberries in mixing bowl.
Combine egg, milk, butter and almond extract in another bowl. Add to dry ingredients, mixing just until moist. Spread in loaf pan or pans. Sprinkle with sugar and nuts. Bake 45 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees. Bake 30 minutes or until toothpick in center comes out clean.
