INGREDIENTS:
1/2 c. warm water
2 pkg. yeast (dry or compressed)
1 tbsp. sugar
Mix together until dissolved. Let stand 20 minutes.
1 egg
2 tsp. salt
Yeast mixture
1/4 c. oil (3/4 for rolls)
1/3 c. sugar (3/4 for rolls)
2 c. warm water
6 1/2 c. flour
DIRECTIONS:
Beat egg in large bowl. Add salt, yeast mixture, oil and sugar to beaten egg. Stir, then add warm water. Gradually add flour. Mix, then knead well. Place in large bowl, cover with damp cloth and let rise. Punch down and make into loaves (or rolls). Bake at 400 degrees. (Loaves for 40 minutes and rolls for 15 minutes.) Also makes delicious pepperoni rolls.
