INGREDIENTS:
2 packages Dry Yeast
2 tablespoons Sugar
1 tablespoon Salt
2 cups Warm Water
6 1/2 cups Flour
1/4 cup Salad Oil
3/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
DIRECTIONS:
Dissolve yeast and garlic in warm water. Add sugar, salt, oil and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Mix in enough flour to make dough easy to handle. Turn onto floured board. Knead until elastic (10 minutes). Place in greased bowl and place covered with towel in warm place for 45 minutes until doubled in size. Punch down and divide in half. Make into desired shape, place in greased pan. Brush dough with oil. Let rise until doubled, 55-65 minutes. Heat oven to 400F degrees. Bake 35 minutes. Remove from pans and brush tops with shortening and cover with a towel until cool.
This recipe for Garlic Bread serves/makes 2 loaves.
