Banana nut bread

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar (or less)
3 mashed very ripe bananas
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda dissolved in about 2 tbsp. water
1/2 c. pecans (if desired)

DIRECTIONS:

Mix ingredients in order given. Bake in well greased and floured loaf pan for 45 minutes at 350 degrees. (It may need to cook a bit longer). This may also be made into muffins using paper muffin cups sprayed with Pam spray. This bread freezes well. Taken from 1953 Slaton Home Demonstration Cookbook.
